Our mission is to improve the ecology, biodiversity and climate resilience
of Clapham Common and surrounding areas for all who live in Clapham.
We work closely with Lambeth Council, CCMAC, Friends of Clapham Common and other conservation agencies to design and implement sustainable biodiversity projects.
Projects for Autumn 2024
Partnership project with Lambeth Council - designs and planting for new SuDS beds along Windmill Drive.
Partnership project with the Friends, Mayor of London, Clapham Common Management Advisory Committee (CCMAC), the Froglife Trust, Butterfly Conservation, Consano Earth Fund and Lambeth Council to construct the new Wetlands and Reedbeds project adjacent to Eagle Pond.
April 2024
Partnership project with CCMAC, Butterfly Conservation, the Friends and Lambeth Council to design and excavate 2800 square metres of sustainable, deep-scrape, wildflower meadows with surrounding scrubland islands on West Side and Battersea Rise.
January 2024
Project with Lambeth Council, CCMAC and the Friends for tree and scrubland planting between Mount Pond and Windmill Drive. Plus reseeding of the North Side meadow.
Partnership project with the Friends and Thomas’s Clapham school to plant 30 trees.
November 2023
Project with Lambeth Council to allocate site locations and tree species - 55 trees planted by Lambeth Council in January 2024.
Landscaping partnership project with CCMAC and Lambeth Council for the Wetplay area - trees, hedging and climbers.
October 2023
Registered with Charity Commission as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO)
August 2023
Designs and landscaping prepared for trees, hedging and climbers for the new Wetplay area in Old Town.
May 2023
Project with CCMAC and Lambeth Council to redesign and sow new wildflower meadow on North Side.
March 2023
Project with CCMAC and Lambeth Council to designate over 16.32 hectares of the Common as Local Nature Reserves (LNRs).
November 2022
Partnership project with the Friends, CCMAC and Lambeth Council to plant 30 new trees and additional scrubland islands by wildflower meadows along Windmill Drive.
March 2022
Partnership project with the Friends, Butterfly Conservation, CCMAC and Lambeth Council to design and excavate 1400 square metres of sustainable, deep-scrape, wildflower meadows along Windmill Drive.
November 2021
Partnership project with the Friends, CCMAC and Lambeth Council to design and create over 2.00 hectares of scrubland islands using indigenous shrubs. This initiative reintroduced lost species to the Common.
October 2021
Partnership project with the April Trust, the Friends, the Clapham Society, CCMAC and Lambeth Council to plant 42 trees. This initiative reintroduced lost tree species to the Common and started trialling new tree species for climate change.
